Gugusse Compact

The Gugusse Compact is an upgrade from the Gugusse Roller. The Gugusse Compact base combines in a single piece what was 3 pieces in the Gugusse Roller; the Tensioner Base, the Gate Base and the Main Drive. The Gugusse Roller's adjustable Gate Jaws and hole sensor are now replaced by non-adjustable but swappable Gates and hole sensors, you have to print one of each for each film format you wish to scan.

The rollers are now fixed size, you need to print 8 for each film format you wish to scan (8mm and super8 share the same rollers, but not the same gate and not the same hole sensor). You need to make 2 turntables (like the old Gugusse Roller). You need to make a controlboard (like the old Gugusse Roller). You need to print 1 BigSwivelArm.stl but 2 SmallSwingingArm.stl. 35mm doesn't need ReelRaisers but the other formats do, you'll need to print 2 for each format you'll scan.

The documentation is available on the Build Instructions page. You can also come and see us at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/552059449113276 for questions.

Files to print

I used a Creality CR-10 to 3D print my prototype so I would recommend this printer but there are some others that are as good (or maybe better, I wouldn't know).

Start with the GugusseCompact.stl and/or a turntable main table, you need to know if your 3D printer is big enough before getting yourself into this project:

Turn Tables

One Turn Table

  • Note: you need to print 2 turn tables
  • No required color.
  • recommendation: printing the gear in soft PLA should help make the Gugusse more silent. (that recommendation was only good a very long time ago before we start using trinamics silent motor drivers).
